Pediatric Advanced Life Support Course – AHA Certified
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course, which is a standard program of the American Heart Association (AHA). This course, held on May 20 – 21, 2024, was designed for physicians and professional nurses from MedPark Hospital and Chao Phraya Hospital. It aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and skills in assessing and diagnosing pediatric cardiac arrest and abnormal heart rhythms. The training included the proper use of life-saving equipment and related medications, as well as improving basic and advanced life support skills according to established guidelines. The course also focused on enhancing communication skills and teamwork during advanced resuscitation efforts through a blended learning approach, which included online learning, theoretical instruction, and practical simulations. The training was directed by Dr. Poomiporn Katayuwong, a pediatric cardiologist from the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University. Other esteemed instructors included Dr. Ngamjit Pattaravit, an anesthesiologist specializing in critical care medicine at MedPark Hospital; Dr. Duangtip Tiacharoen from the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Thammasat University, Thammasat University Hospital; and Dr. Saowanee Chaisuparassmeekul, a pediatric pulmonologist at Bangkok Hospital. Participants gained invaluable experience in managing and diagnosing pediatric cardiac emergencies, ensuring the correct and effective use of resuscitation equipment and medications. The training also improved their communication and teamwork skills, adhering to international standards, thus enhancing their overall competence in pediatric emergency care.
